Jiangsu’s government office released a notification December 5 for illegal stainless steel production at one large NPI smelter in Jiangsu.

SHANGHAI, Dec. 7 (SMM) – Jiangsu’s government office released a notification December 5 for illegal stainless steel production at one large NPI smelter in Jiangsu.

The anonymous smelter launched a 300,000-tonne NPI expansion project in 2013, but illegally built facilities for stainless steel production, including one 80-tonne electric furnace, four 60-tonne AOD furnaces and supporting facilities. Those illegal facilities are now requested to be dismantled immediately and person in charge will be held for responsibilities.

Another two steel mills were also named in the notification, and a stainless steel project owned by one NPI producer in Linyi was also called off.
